Dead Pixel Test
betaThis free dead pixel test cycles fullscreen solid colours so you can spot dead pixels (stay black on white), stuck pixels (show colour on black), backlight bleed and uniformity issues. Great after buying a monitor, laptop or phone.
Check your screen for dead or stuck pixels, backlight bleed and uniformity. Cycle through fullscreen solid colours — a dead pixel stays black on white, a stuck pixel shows colour on black. Look closely at each colour.
Tip: clean the screen first so dust is not mistaken for a dead pixel.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel?
A dead pixel stays black on every colour (most visible on white); a stuck pixel is fixed on one colour (most visible on black). The colour cycle reveals both.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The test just fills your screen with colours locally; nothing is uploaded.
Can it fix a stuck pixel?
Sometimes gently cycling colours helps a stuck pixel recover, but there is no guarantee. A truly dead pixel cannot be fixed in software.
Does it work offline?
Yes. As a PWA it works with no connection once loaded.
