Frequently asked questions

Are my subtitle files uploaded?

No. Parsing, editing and conversion all happen in your browser; your files never leave your device.

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

Both are text subtitle formats. WebVTT (used by HTML5 video) starts with a WEBVTT header and uses a dot in timestamps; SRT uses a comma and numbered cues. The tool converts between them.

How does the time shift work?

Enter a positive or negative number of seconds and apply it to move every cue earlier or later — handy when subtitles are out of sync.

Does it work offline?

Yes. As a PWA it keeps working with no connection.
