How to use Map Explorer
- 1 Type a place in the search box and press Enter, or click Locate to jump to your position.
- 2 Click anywhere on the map to drop a pin and read its Decimal, DMS, UTM, and Geohash coordinates.
- 3 Copy any coordinate format with the copy button beside it.
- 4 Click Measure, then tap points along the map to get the total distance between them.
Frequently asked questions
Are my coordinates or pins sent anywhere?
No. Dropping a pin and converting its coordinates to DMS, UTM, or Geohash happens locally in your browser. Only place-name searches call an external map service to find matching locations.
What coordinate formats does it show?
For each pin you get Decimal degrees, DMS (degrees-minutes-seconds), UTM, and a Geohash, each with a one-click copy button.
How do I measure distance?
Click the Measure button, then click points along your route on the map. The tool sums the segments and shows the total distance.
Can I change the map style?
Yes. Pick from the built-in styles — including an Auto option that follows the site's light or dark theme — and your choice is remembered next time.
